Restorative Justice Club

I was invited by the school’s administration to be one of the first student advocates in my school’s Restorative Justice Club. I facilitate discussion between students and students, and students and teachers to resolve conflict. The goal is to create better solutions than blame, anger, and detention. Through this club I have become a trained facilitator, a student advocate and have been trained in addiction prevention. It makes me feel good to know the school can rely on me as a part of a positive solution for students rather than just resorting to punishments.

Academics

During my Junior year I won the Alfred Scholar Award for being an extraordinary, well-rounded, model student. An administrator at my school nominated me over all other students in my class for this scholarship ($30k/each for four years). I was also nominated for and have been a contributing member of my school's National Honor Society chapter since Junior year. Being a part of NHS means I’ve maintained High Honor Roll and completed community service hours every semester.

Journalism Co-Editor

As Co-Editor of our school paper, the Maroon Tribune, I’m responsible for writing stories, helping other students come up with ideas for their own writing, and editing. It’s exciting to see all of our ideas come to life in print and lead the direction of the reporting.
